“Calciobalilla” is Dedicated to Everything Lost Without Realizing It

"Calciobalilla", is the new single from the italian emopunk band Monteluna, a nostalgic and emotional cavalcade centred on the trauma of those old toys discarded by their mother, a dedication to everything lost without realizing it.

The song tells the story of a small plastic foosball table taken to the dump by the mother of a now-grown son, at first glance a song dedicated to all those childhood memories lost or thrown away because they are broken or bulky. At first sight a song dedicated to all those childhood memories lost or thrown away because they are broken or cumbersome, but in fact a great metaphor referring to those relationships that sometimes end up in the shadows, dissolved in the indifference and frenzy of adult life. Meteors of our lives, little things we dream of and hope for, but which life then makes us lose for no real reason.

A song as layered as its message: it starts out fast and energetic, almost punk rock style, then indulges in a reflective slowdown with loops of emo arpeggios from two guitars and a bass on which a melancholic chorus rests. The tension gradually builds up and then explodes into a final refrain swollen with anger and resentment, flowing completely into screamo.
