Five Songs to Reinvent Yourself To; Checkmate Releases ‘MAGNOLIA’
Symbolically, magnolias represent endurance as they are known to live for many years through both good and harsh conditions. This symbolism is a perfect representation of Checkmate’s upcoming release MAGNOLIA – a five track EP that describes how lead singer Bill Beitz continues to reinvent himself after one year of sobriety.
The EP was written with the intent to heal and move past certain events in lead singer/guitarist Billy Beitz’ life. “I have been through a lot of shitty events since the release of our first LP,” Billy said. “Listening to the LP, I can’t even recognize the person singing. I really wanted to create something more wholesome and relaxing, and I think you can hear it on MAGNOLIA.”
We advise those who are listening to the project to find a comfortable and safe setting, and enjoy the EP from front to back. Lyrically and instrumentally, it starts off as one thing and transitions into something bigger. “It is my sincere hope that these songs can help listeners with whatever life may put them through. Your past does not define you. You are whatever you want to be in this life. No one in this world can tell you otherwise.”
