“death cult!!!!!!!!” is a song about trying to find yourself online only to realize that the internet wants us to be conforming or dead, and the constant flood of information and need to always be plugged in is really bad for us. This song was born from seeing a notification at 3am that a friend was active on tiktok. The notification brought a strange kind of comfort, but later formed into a degree of digital self-harm and realization of how internet usage can bring out a self-destructive nature within us.
