Jolly Rancher – ‘Absence’
Austin, TX, emo affiliates and We’re Trying Records newcomers Jolly Rancher recently released their second EP Absence. The four track project begins and ends in a blink of an eye, but leaves its listeners thinking of relationships that have ran their course and moments in life that should have been enjoyed.
Earnest & biting, "Idle" – the first single from the EP – conveys isolation, yearns for self-discovery and begs to be shouted along to in a basement with your best friends. While the final track – “Shelter” – a different pace compared to the first single, with heavier vocals and instrumentals, but still deals with the issue anxiety and depression.
The album is an emo pop banger with the time changes, speedy riffs, and vocal combo between Kyle and Drew – reminiscent of their dynamic in larry&thebears.
