"Survive" With a Little Help From Our [Good Looking] Friends

During these weird and unprecedented times, Good Looking Friends’ new single “Survive” hits the spot.

The band’s third single is a continuation of the second single, and centers around the young man who’s had it rough and deals with a drug addiction. After his downward spiral and jolt into chaos, the man finds himself in prison thinking about the larger addictions in life that we almost never think about – social media, cell phones, etc. He comes to the realization that our consumption of this media and addition of technology confuses our the lines of what we think are real and fake. But overall, the man is stuck and daydreaming.

While the track was not made with some mass pandemic tearing through the world in mind, “Survive” lends itself to what we’re all going through and may even give us a perspective of what we’re missing outside of our phones. This time inside, away from our friends and the norm, has us all wanting something outside of our screen. Hopefully, this experience changes our perspective of reality and what we should be enjoying.

The track is part of the band’s upcoming album The Light of the Well – out 4/17 – which is an overall celebration of human collective achievement and a defamation of consumerism. It's love for innovation and condemnation of advertising. It's a plan for a platform and a plea to get off your socials.
