Goodwill, Good Will – ‘am i better in your head’
Nearly a year after their debut, the band is back with seven new tracks that surrounding self-hate and finding your identity. “The new songs are a much more cohesive piece, with more solidified elements from a variety of genres. The band’s sound is moody and depressing, but doesn’t try to romanticize these feelings,” commented Goodwill, Good Will drummer Zander Velasco.
The band’s first two tracks – “always, often” and “broke___” – add to the overall message of the album. The former explores understanding yourself and seeking help when needed, while the later confronts self-hatred turned into positive change despite losing friends along the way.
All-in-all, second EP really dives into the fragility of primarily platonic relationships, especially as you grow further into adulthood and explore your own personal identity and interests. “Not many relationships continue to flourish through the self-doubt that comes with personal growth, so it's important to ground yourself and appreciate all of the people around you,” explained Velasco. “The album also explores general self-hate, but we want people to know that there is nothing wrong with feeling that way and it's important to take care of yourself.”
